Fancy faïence!
The Faïencerie de Gien, founded in 1821 in Gien in the Loire Valley, is a jewel in the crown of French decorative arts, firmly rooted in its region and recognised the world over. It made its name in the 19th century, creating tableware for the great aristocratic families of Europe. It also made a name for itself with a number of fine creations, such as the tiles for the Paris metro and the dinner service for the Orient Express. Last but not least, it’s Gien’s two-hundred-year-old expertise and the exceptional quality of its earthenware that make it such an excellent place to work.
