Velvet from all angles

Warm, chic et velvety
Fashion
against the grain

Regal and printed under Francis Ist, ribbed and heavy for 19th century workers, colourful and velvety in 2019, velvet is back in fashion. Introduced in Italy in the 14th century, it is still very present on the streets today, ready to keep our winter wardrobe warm. Luxurious on all occasions, this dramatic fabric promises a dose of chic and a gala feel.

Velvet is making its mark

The great strength of velvet lies in its colours, we mix them without second thought. For a classy look and a vintage touch, the velvet goes khaki, beige or brown… The more assertive silhouettes will shine with pink, orange, fir green or petroleum blue.

  • As overcoat: Down jackets and trench coats pair with it to keep us warm. We nod in front of the short down jacket and gloat in front of a ribbed trench coat.
  • As pants: A great comeback from the 70s, the ribs are back. We prefer them flare in warm shades.
  • As dress: Smooth and black, always expect to make an impression. For those who like long dresses, opt for colourful prints, to be combined with low boots for a bohemian look.
  • As sweat: Very soft, the fabric brings chicness to the traditional home sweat home.
  • As accessories: So essential, velvet invites itself from low boots to sandals, bags and scarves.
  • Arlettie’s piece of advice: Velvet goes perfectly with beautiful gemstones, use the opportunity to dive back into your jewelry box!
